The Outpatient Services Department was established to primarily provide services for economically-challenged patients who would like to access quality healthcare. In 1979, the Department of Ophthalmology was added to the roster of medical departments providing services in the hospital. Likewise, the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. became the major stockholder of Manila Doctors on February 27 of the same year.
