The concept of having a center with the complement of A Multidisciplinary Team of Specialists that will address the growing needs of children with neurological, developmental, genetic, neurosurgical, and psychiatric disorders has been a long time dream which has been shared with the department of Pediatrics of the Manila Doctors Hospital under the Headship of Dr. Cynthia Cuayo-Juico.
The medical needs of these children are complex and multidisciplinary approach to the management is the key to the best outcome. Early diagnosis and intervention are significant determinants of treatment outcome. Until the establishment of this center, there is none in a private set up that brings together this group of specialists to work together as a team in the management of these children. The idea of a “one stop shop” facility that will reduce the travel time, travel expenses and lost income for family members, as well as decrease the inconvenience of bringing the patient from one clinic and/or hospital to the other, is an important purpose of the center, on top of its main goal to deliver quality care to the patients.
"Children are GOD'S gift to us and they should all have equal rights and access to quality care. It is the ultimate goal of the center to promote better quality of life to our children and their families."
The project was approved by the MDH EXECOM after the formal presentation of Dr. Aida Mendoza-Salonga. The center was inaugurated last Dec. 6, 2006, and formally opened last Jan. 15, 2007.
