"We affirm that maximizing professional services increases profit."
The Pharmacy is the department of the Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH) wherein the procurement, storage, compounding, dispensing and monitoring of medications through drug- therapy management of both in and out patients is completed by legally qualified and professionally competent pharmacist.
The practice of pharmacy in the hospital includes broad responsibility for the safe and appropriate use of drugs in patients, which includes, among other things, the rational selection monitoring, dosing and control of the patient’s overall drug therapy program.
Through the years, hospital pharmacy has evolved a philosophy that centers its service from a drug- oriented to a patient- oriented one. Pharmaceutical services have expanded significantly beyond drug preparation and distribution. These evolutionary changes are the pharmacist involvement in drug- related decision making and patient care activities. The principle behind this clinical practice is patient orientation combined with the safe and rational use of drugs in the clinical setting.
The pharmacist's role of providing at all times, an adequate supply of safe, effective, and good quality drugs in appropriate dosage forms consistent with the needs of the patients, was extended to rationalization of drug utilization in collaboration with the medical staff, and application of pharmaceutical care.
