MDH sponsors Run 4 Health Research

Manila Doctors Hospital, in partnership with the Philippine Commission for Health Research and Development (PCHRD), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Council of Health Research and Development (COHRED), Great Minds @ Work and Streetwise PR and Events Management, sponsored the Run 4 Health Research (R4R), a fun run which aims to promote the upcoming Global Forum on Research and Innovation for Health 2015.

More than 700 runners and enthusiasts participated in the fun run, which took place on August 9, 2015 at the CCP Complex Sunken Parking in PasayCity.

MDH provided doctors and ambulance for the medical needs of participants throughout the event. There were also giveaways for more than 200 runners who visited the booth after the race.

R4R was initiated by PCHRD not only to promote the importance of having a healthy lifestyle to avoid noncommunicable diseases (such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer) but also to support the importance of research and innovation on health to the public, which is the goal of the Global Forum on Research and Innovation for Health 2015.

This year’s Forum also intends to “identify solutions to the world’s unmet health needs through research and innovation.” With the Philippines as this year’s host country, “it aims to provide a truly unique opportunity for low- and middle-income countries to strengthen their voice in shaping the global health research agenda.”
